𖡎 A belly full of doom

A woman I take online art journaling classes from posted that she woke up with a belly full of doom. When creative souls send out distress signals, I pay attention. It reminds me of something Kurt Vonnegut said: "Artists are useful to society because they are so sensitive. They keel over like canaries in coal mines filled with poison gas, long before more robust types realize that any danger is there." And yet, it's not just highly sensitive people who are feeling like "the other shoe is about to drop." There's a pervasive tension tightening itself across the world's collective belly of doom.

We're sailing into the winds of chaos and it's going to be quite a ride (but not a new ride by any means; cycles of chaos and order are as old as time). This issue of Miracle Mindset, I'm diving into the energy of chaos from the level of mind and consciousness, the only place we can truly effect change. It might challenge you. (And remember, whatever else is happening 'out there,' we are all walking each other home.💚)

To the one with a belly full of doom: It feels like the world you desire is crumbling. But what if it's not falling apart... it's falling away, revealing what's true and eternal underneath.

Chaos mode deactivated...

On unlearning and the 'house of uncertainty'. She who comes in times of chaos to transform fear and rage into alchemical gold. A podcast episode to contemplate: Do you generate chaos? The chaotic, yet neutral, force of Baba Yaga.

CHAOS

Etymology: Late 15th century (denoting a gaping void or chasm): via French and Latin from Greek khaos ‘vast chasm, void’.

You'd think chaos originated from a word meaning turmoil or maybe disorganized destruction. Not so! It originally described a state in which there's a vast chasm. In a 'spiritual' sense, we understand this symbolically as a void between the painful, unhappy, uncomfortable place where we find ourselves and the place we sense is where we're truly meant to be.

Our collective divine mind and sacred heart are what’s needed to bridge that chasm. Can you see the raw potential here, rather than random, unordered mayhem? It’s up to us to step forward and create that bridge by choosing to see chaos less as a problem and more as an opportunity to remember who we truly are—a chance to shift our perception and follow a truer, gentler guide.

This is spiritual alchemy: we become the bridge. Imagine the vast chasm dissolving in the presence of forgiveness and love.

The chaos we didn't know we need

Throughout the ages, cultures have dreamed up imaginative myths about the endless cycles of chaos and order that humanity experiences. All carry a common message: From chaos the old is destroyed and new realities are born. Think of Kali in India, Baba Yaga in Eastern Europe, Sekhmet in Egypt—powerful figures embodying the transformative force of chaos. Interestingly, all women!

Chaos, with its wild and untamed energy, isn’t here to destroy us—though it can if we aren't wise. Its deeper purpose is to call us forward, inviting us to unlock its hidden potential for growth and transformation. The journey from fear to love, from confusion to clarity, is our sacred work, and when we release resistance, the transformative power of chaos is revealed.

“One must have chaos within oneself
to give birth to a dancing star.”
-Friedrich Nietzsche-

Even in chaotic messiness,
there's a way to find stillness.
It's already within you.

Change How You See Things

Chaos is overwhelming as long as you experience it through a lens of fear and separation. Fear drives chaos, but love heals. What if you could pause and choose a different way of seeing—a view that replaces fear with calm and connection?

It’s an Inside Job

Turbulence outside always mirrors what's happening inside (even at a societal level!). Focus on quieting the inner storm. Peace follows when you heal the cause, not the symptoms.

Be Defenseless

That's not a popular view, I know. But the need to protect yourself feeds fear and chaos because you've bought into the belief that you are being attacked. Trust that YOU can never be attacked.

Forgive and Free Yourself

Chaos arises from feeling hurt or betrayed. That's why the antidote is forgiveness. Forgive yourself for thinking YOU could ever be hurt and forgive others who have forgotten this about themselves.

Chaos is Temporary

“We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (St Paul) By focusing on your eternal divine nature as pure Love, chaos loses its power to overwhelm you.

A storm is coming. I've been feeling it in my bones. More metaphorically than literally. But nature has a way of obliging the inner landscape, shaping the outer reality to match. I woke up to the news alerts in my inbox: "Major atmospheric river storm barreling toward California: ‘Prepare for the worst’," and "California Braces For 'Biggest Storm of the Year'." Right on cue, February's full moon on Wednesday is living up to one of her lesser known names: Storm Moon. No one's looking forward...

It feels like springtime on California's Central Coast, where I’ve set down my roots... lightly, like a tent staked in soft earth... for the next few weeks. I've been excited because the weather is pretty good for hiking. As I look up the Santa Ynez mountains, the trails are calling. But here's the thing, finding the right trailhead around here is really challenging me. Stories, myths and wisdom writings talk a lot about the path and the journey, but no one talks about the trailhead. Often...

Do you have a hermit within? One that you tend to resist because it would inconvenience your world, so full as it is with 'doings'? I do. But sometimes we just know it’s time to sink into a little hermit mode, right? Late January does that for me. We took down our tree yesterday. The exterior festivities are fading, and now it all feels a little… well, January. There's an emptiness that lingers in the absence of the jubilation and merry-making. Go into the emptiness my hermit says. I resist....
